Who we are
We are a small kit hire business based in Fort William, providing quality hire equipment and a flexible 5* service. Set up by mountain man and kit
enthusiast - Rob Brown.
A true lover of winter climbing, Rob could never wait to get up onto the ice. He set up this company to allow others to experience the rush of Scottish winter too.
Very sadly, Rob passed away in July 2022. As a legacy to him it seems right that the kit he loved and invested in continues to adventure in the mountains.

His partner and family have taken over the business and hope to keep allowing access to people who don't yet have all the gear and want a great day out or to join a winter mountaineering course.

How we work
Simply browse and book your equipment here on our website.

We are still a small business without a shop premises, just our wee kit cabin and dropbox! Look out for the Scottish Mountain Hire logo.
We know that winter days start early - your kit can be available to you from 4pm the night before your hire starts. Dropping it back again can be any time before 7pm on the last day of your hire.
​
If you require pick up or drop off at time where no one is home then we have a locked dropbox and will share the daily code on booking.
​
Full instructions for pick up and drop off will be sent in the confirmation email.
